New Illo on Covered Today

I’m making my second appearance on the fantastic Covered blog today, with my version of the inimitable James Jean’s cover for Fables #43.

I’ve been really into James Jean’s covers for that series, even tho’ I’ve always found the comics’ interiors to be a real disapointment in comparison (in fact, I’ll just admit that I don’t like the series at all). Jean’s stuff kills me… it was hard to pick a drawing to try my hand at, but I ended up with this djinn image, I love those bendy rubber arms! I drew it in black and white and did some simple colors in digital… a far cry from the painterly effects Jean gets out of Photoshop! But I did like the primary color scheme.
